About the position

Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. is seeking to hire a talented and growth-minded individual to join our team as an Air Balance & Commissioning Mechanic B. This position is crucial for assisting with balancing, commissioning, and quality control for various projects and systems. The Air Balance & Commissioning Mechanic B will work closely with lead technicians to ensure that heating, cooling, and ventilating systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings are functioning optimally. The role requires compliance with all safety standards, policies, and procedures, and involves a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall performance and efficiency of HVAC systems. The specific job duties include inspecting, testing, adjusting, and balancing HVAC systems, using specialized tools and test equipment to meet performance standards specified in system designs. The mechanic will study system blueprints and specifications to understand the configuration and purpose of system components, such as motors, pumps, fans, switches, ducts, or pipes. Additionally, the mechanic will inspect systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications, detect malfunctions, and discuss these issues with users to isolate problems. The role also involves adjusting system controls, testing performance using various tools, and leading commissioning efforts when self-performed by Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. Physical requirements for this position include the ability to work outside in all weather conditions, lift and carry heavy objects, work at heights, and perform tasks that require physical stamina and dexterity. The mechanic must also possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel to job sites, occasionally requiring overnight stays. Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Assist lead technician to balance, commission and assist with quality control efforts.
  • Inspect, test, adjust and balance heating, cooling and ventilating systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Use specialized tools and test equipment to attain performance standards specified in system designs.
  • Study system blueprints, specifications and performance data to determine configuration and purpose of system components.
  • Inspect systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and detect malfunctions.
  • Discuss system malfunctions with users to isolate problems.
  • Review system operations with users to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.
  • Adjust system controls to settings recommended by vendor to prepare for tests.
  • Test performance of air and hydronic systems using specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Open or close louvers in system ductwork; adjust flow control valves in piping to balance systems.
  • Lead commissioning efforts where self-performed by Riddleberger Brothers, Inc.
  • Assist with quality control measures, including developing quality control documents and job site inspections.

Requirements

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and frequently carry 40 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to lift tools, pipe and fixtures overhead.
  • Ability to work at heights including climbing on ladders, scaffolding and staircases.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time as well as bend, crouch, kneel and work in small spaces.
  • Must be able to use hands to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.
  • Punctual and regular attendance.
  • Ability to work on a team and interact with people.
  • Ability to accurately read a ruler or tape measure.
  • Attend and participate in training as needed.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy.
  • Ability to work 10-hour days, flexible schedule, overtime when necessary.
