About the position

The CVN Air Department Ship Systems Analyst will support the government customer Commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic (COMNAVAIRLANT), working onsite at CNAL Norfolk, VA. This role is critical in facilitating daily CVN aviation status updates to both internal and external stakeholders utilizing Microsoft Suite Products. The analyst will provide subject matter expertise for training assistance, oversight, and certification recommendations to CVN air departments, focusing on key areas such as aircraft handling, crash and salvage operations, catapult and arresting gear, and aircraft refueling operations. In addition to these responsibilities, the analyst will serve as a subject matter expert during various training phases including Fleet Training Certification (FTC), Tailored Ship's Training Availability (TSTA), and Fleet Exercise Program (FEP). The role requires experienced support of shipboard aviation support systems, particularly the Aircraft Carrier Launch and Recovery Equipment Management Program (ALREMP) and Aviation Fuel Systems. The analyst will also assist government points of contact in developing requirements for new aircraft replacements, spare parts, assemblies, and necessary support facilities for aircraft carriers. Furthermore, the analyst will provide expertise in supporting ALRE training programs for aircraft carriers, ensuring that all operations meet the required standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily CVN aviation status updates to internal and external stakeholders using Microsoft Suite Products.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for training assistance, oversight, and certification recommendations to CVN air departments in aircraft handling, crash and salvage, catapult and arresting gear, and aircraft refueling operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during FTC, TSTA, and FEP training phases.
  • Support shipboard aviation support systems including ALREMP and Aviation Fuel Systems.
  • Assist government POCs in developing requirements for new aircraft replacements and necessary support facilities for aircraft carriers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in supporting ALRE training programs for aircraft carriers.

Requirements

  • SECRET security clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience (or AA+8, MS+3, or HS+11).
  • Experience in providing training assistance, oversight, and certification recommendations to air departments on aircraft carriers.
  • Technical, management, development, and integration experience with Naval Air Department requirements onboard aircraft carriers within the past five years.
  • Experience as a liaison with military and DOD personnel regarding aircraft handling, crash and salvage, arresting gear, and fueling training requirements for shipboard teams.
  • Experience in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) training programs.

  • Aviation related NECs/Certifications.
  • Active-duty navy experience as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate.
  • Instructor/Assessor Training Certifications.
  • Experience in the Ship's Maintenance and Material Readiness (3M) Department and other staff departments regarding ALRE repairs.
