With around 30,000 employees, DGF ensures the transportation of customer shipments by air or sea, providing logistics solutions that span the entire supply chain, from the factory to the shop floor. The company is currently seeking an Air Import Supervisor to manage and drive the performance of a team of Import specialists (agents) to ensure that customer and operational requirements are met or exceeded. This role is critical in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the import operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. As an Air Import Supervisor, you will be responsible for organizing, splitting, and planning the day-to-day work of Import Specialists. You will supervise transactional operations in the receiving area, which includes delivery arrangements, planning, and follow-up of shipments. Ensuring the handling of required import documents according to regulations and internal procedures is a key aspect of this role. You will also be tasked with following up on shipment status in the import area and during transport, identifying incidents, and ensuring their resolution. Supporting operations and customer service in incident and exception management is essential to maintaining high service levels. In addition to operational responsibilities, you will create, build, and maintain excellent relationships with key suppliers and internal functions. Continuous monitoring of supplier performance and developing improvement plans when necessary will be part of your duties. Identifying training needs and opportunities for developing a highly skilled functional department is also crucial. You will act as a subject matter expert for ad hoc operational questions and ensure the proper implementation of customer requirements, collaborating with all products to ensure successful customer launches. Interaction with warehouse, product, and global service centers may be required as part of your role.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, splits and plans day-to-day work of Import Specialists
• Supervises Transactional Operations in the receiving area (delivery arrangement, planning and follow-up of shipment in the receiving area)
• Ensures handling of required Import documents according to regulations and internal procedures
• Follows-up shipment status in the Import area and during transport; identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents
• Supports Operations and Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution
• Creates, builds and maintains excellent relationships with key suppliers, internal and external
• Continuously monitors supplier (internal and external) performance and develops improvement plan when required
• Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department
• Creates, builds and maintains relationships with other internal functions (e.g. OCC, Sales, OPS) and acts as subject matter expert for ad hoc operational questions with regards to accounts which are being serviced
• Ensures that proper implementation of customer has been conducted and collaborates with all Products to ensure successful customer launch
• Interacts with Warehouse, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in the freight forwarding industry, Air Import experience strongly preferred
• Supervisory and leadership experience preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Air Freight Import Customer Service and Operations
• Experience using Cargowise software a plus
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
• Very strong analytical and decision-making skills
• BA/BS preferred
