About the position

The Air Operations Training Analyst position at SAIC involves providing fleet training support as a subject matter expert (SME) at Tactical Training Group Atlantic in Virginia Beach, VA. The role requires extensive experience in naval fleet synthetic training development, execution, and evaluation, particularly in air operations. The analyst will coordinate and support Joint Integrated Air Defense and Air Operations Center tasking during training events, ensuring that training objectives are met through effective curriculum development and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and support on tactical and operational-level joint, coalition, and service doctrine for synthetic war game scenario generation.
  • Review Combatant Commander and theater-specific contingency and operational plans.
  • Function as an academic instructor in assigned warfare areas.
  • Assist the Joint Exercise Control Group in developing scenarios and operational environments for training events.
  • Utilize the Master Scenario Event List tool to track synthetic war game storylines and events.
  • Develop collection plans to aid in the preparation of After Action Reports and daily summary reports.
  • Participate in the development of After Action Reports based on training audience observations during exercises.
  • Assist in developing and executing warfare training curricula using synthetic war gaming software.
  • Provide expertise in all combat mission areas and mentor training audiences including carrier strike groups and independent deployers.
  • Oversee the development of exercise documents including OPORDs and exercise directives.
  • Provide oversight for white cell elements of synthetic training events and support live events as required.
  • Assist in developing synthetic exercise injects to meet training objectives.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen with Secret clearance and a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
  • Active military duty experience with recent instruction/training experience at the senior enlisted/mid-grade officer level or higher.
  • Six years of general training SME and Functional Area experience (eight years in lieu of degree).
  • Five years of senior trainer/evaluator experience.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills at junior management and senior executive levels.
  • Experience using MS Office products, particularly PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a JSAF operator.
  • Recent experience in joint and naval exercises, war gaming, and exercise/event planning.
  • Joint Force Air Component Command/ Naval Aviation Liaison Element staff experience.
  • Experience in basic set-up of networked computers, VOIP phones, and audio/video systems.
  • Familiarity with the Navy Composite Warfare Commander concept and Fleet Training policy documents.
