About the position

The Air Quality Planner II position at the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) focuses on developing and implementing strategies to promote cleaner transportation fuels and zero-emission vehicles. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance alternative fuel infrastructure and reduce environmental impacts associated with transportation. The successful candidate will engage in project management, stakeholder outreach, and policy monitoring to support the transition to sustainable transportation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining awareness of the latest developments in the alternative fuel vehicle industry, including topics related to electric vehicles and associated recharging infrastructure
  • Implementing alternative fuel infrastructure projects awarded through the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure program and Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator Program
  • Working with supervisor to communicate and coordinate regional alternative fuel infrastructure efforts, including electric vehicle charging
  • Working with supervisor to identify and communicate region-specific best practices to support alternative fuel adoption
  • Planning and attending meetings and outreach events for stakeholders, including educational webinars, peer exchanges, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of grant programs such as the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan, the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program, or other competitive grants to support local stakeholders
  • Developing, measuring, and implementing project and program goals, performance measures, and milestones
  • Responding to stakeholder inquiries
  • Monitoring the impacts of State and federal policies, rules, and legislation for alternative vehicle fuels
  • Drafting correspondences, grant applications, technical reports, newsletters, website and social media content, and other documents
  • Updating and restructuring key websites, including www.dfwcleancities.org
  • Preparing and delivering oral presentations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in analytical, quantitative methods
  • At least one year of work-related experience
  • Good communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Good customer service, data collection, mathematical, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of short-term and/or long-range transportation infrastructure planning
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
  • Good critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of alternative fuel vehicles and associated infrastructure, especially regarding electric vehicles and charging stations
