About the position
The Air Traffic Control Instructor position at SAIC involves providing high-quality training services for air traffic controllers at the Anchorage ARTCC (ZAN). The role requires strong technical skills in ATC automation and simulation systems, as well as the ability to mentor students and participate in curriculum design. The instructor will deliver training to a diverse group of students, ensuring they meet the FAA's standards for safety and professionalism in air traffic control operations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and simulation laboratory training to air traffic controller students.
- Mentor students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPO).
- Participate in curriculum design and development for training programs.
- Ensure training services meet the needs of the local facility and the FAA's overall mission.
- Obtain radar and/or non-radar simulation laboratory certifications.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Minimum of five (5) years of FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) experience controlling live traffic.
- Recent experience as a contract Instructor at an FAA facility is acceptable.
- FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) certification is required.
Nice-to-haves
- Direct experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC) at the Anchorage ARTCC (ZAN) is preferred.
- Operational experience with ATC simulators including scenario design for simulation platforms (e.g. TSS, AT Coach, SGET).
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels.
- Experience demonstrating excellent teaching and classroom management techniques.
