About the position

Dewberry is seeking an Airborne Acquisition Operations Manager to join their team in Tampa, FL. This role involves managing airborne lidar acquisition operations and working on Remote Sensing projects for state and federal clients across the US. The ideal candidate will have experience in GIS and remote sensing, with a strong understanding of airborne sensor operations and logistics. The position may require up to 25% travel and offers opportunities for professional growth in a multidisciplinary consulting and engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sensor installation and removal from aircraft
• Oversee or perform in-field and remote troubleshooting or repair of sensors
• Coordinate field operations of multiple aircraft and sensors
• Coordinate with aircraft providers for aircraft schedule and maintenance
• Create flight plans for sensor operations
• Communicate acquisition progress and updates to Management
• Conduct quality checks on data post-acquisition
• Plan and coordinate day-to-day activities of sensor operators and their field schedule
• Contribute to project cost estimates for internal and partner projects
• Oversee data storage management and handoff to processing team
• Track and maintain ancillary acquisition equipment
• Create report documentation

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the GIS/Remote Sensing Field
• 2+ years of experience in managing airborne lidar acquisition
• Experience in topographic or bathymetric lidar sensor operation
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in collecting topo-bathymetric lidar or acoustic sonar
• Experience post-processing trajectories
• Experience post-processing lidar
• Engineering background and/or understanding of lidar sensor design, troubleshooting, or repairs
• Experience in other airborne sensors (imagery, hyperspectral, radar/InSAR/IFSAR, gravimetric/magnetic)
• Certified Hydrographer (CH)
• ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist, CMT-Lidar, or CMS-Lidar
