The Aircraft Field Service Engineer (FSE) position is a critical role within the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment team, specifically for the F-35 program. This position will be based at Amendola Air Base in Italy, where the successful candidate will serve as the technical interface to the on-site customer, focusing on Operations and Maintenance. The FSE will be responsible for resolving issues that arise from maintenance or modification activities related to the F-35 aircraft, ensuring that operational capabilities are maintained and enhanced. As a Nose to Tail (NTT) FSE, the ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Vehicle Systems/APG or Supportable Low Observable (SLO)/Structures. Additionally, it is preferred that the individual has emerging authority in Avionics/Mission Systems (MS) or in APG/Vehicle Systems (VS). The role requires a strong skill set for troubleshooting and analyzing SLO MS or VS, which is essential for maintaining the aircraft's operational readiness. The responsibilities of the FSE include troubleshooting and analyzing difficulties experienced in the field, attending debriefings to identify emerging issues, documenting unusual operational and maintenance problems, and initiating Action Requests (ARs) for unique operational problems. The FSE will also provide training to customer personnel and must be able to work collaboratively with maintainers and professional engineers from other F-35 companies. This position involves significant interaction with customer personnel at all levels, necessitating strong oral and written communication skills. The FSE will provide support for aircraft ground maintenance and operational limitations, direct on-site support as requested, and lead multiple engineering efforts while providing periodic status updates to Customer and Program Management. Candidates must be willing to travel and deploy with customer personnel to various locations, including hazardous duty areas, and may be required to undergo long-term shipboard deployments. Additionally, U.S. citizenship and an active Secret Security Clearance are mandatory for this position.
