About the position

The Aircraft Inspector NDT Level 2 position at AAR involves performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on aircraft and components to ensure compliance with quality control standards and airworthiness. The role requires technical responsibility for the NDT facility, including the selection of inspection methods, preparation of procedures, and training of personnel. The inspector will also interface with suppliers and assist in maintaining department standards.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily incoming and outgoing material to meet Quality Control requirements as stated in the AAR ISO 9000 Procedures Manual and Customer Requirements Manual.
  • Assist the Director of Quality Control in reviewing and updating department standards.
  • Interface with suppliers/product line to disposition rejects.
  • Perform NDT inspections in compliance with customer work instructions, and AAR procedures and policies.
  • Record all inspection functions on applicable paperwork in accordance with the customer policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of Aircraft and Components.
  • Interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s).
  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
  • Select the method and technique for specific inspections.
  • Prepare and verify the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
  • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
  • Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing, and inspection technologies.
  • Provide or direct training, examination, and certification of personnel.
  • Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document the results.
  • Audit outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.

Requirements

  • Level II certification for one or more applicable Non-destructive Testing (NDT) disciplines, such as ultrasonic, eddy current.
  • Ability to correctly use one or more types of applicable NDT equipment.
  • 3-4 years experience in aircraft Non-destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Familiar with aircraft manufacturers technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret ADs, S/Bs, SRMs, industry NDT specifications and other work instructions.
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements of FAR 145 repair station.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License highly preferred.
  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school; or 4-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
