About the position

The Aircraft Inspector NDT Level 2 at AAR Corp. is responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft and components through Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). This role involves performing inspections, maintaining quality control standards, and collaborating with various stakeholders to uphold safety and compliance in aviation operations. The position requires a strong commitment to company values and the ability to work independently while adhering to established procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily incoming and outgoing material to meet Quality Control requirements as stated in the AAR ISO 9000 Procedures Manual and Customer Requirements Manual.
  • Assist the Director of Quality Control in reviewing and updating department standards.
  • Interface with suppliers/product line to disposition rejects.
  • Perform NDT inspections in compliance with customer work instructions, and AAR procedures and policies.
  • Record all inspection functions on applicable paperwork in accordance with the customer policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of Aircraft and Components.
  • Interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s) as used by the employer.
  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
  • Select the method and technique for specific inspections.
  • Prepare and verify the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
  • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
  • Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing, and inspection technologies used by the employer.
  • Provide or direct training, examination, and certification of personnel.
  • Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability was included in the practical examination.
  • Audit outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met when specified.

Requirements

  • Level II certification for one or more applicable Non-destructive Testing (NDT) disciplines, such as ultrasonic, eddy current.
  • Ability to correctly use one or more types of applicable NDT equipment.
  • 3-4 years experience in aircraft Non-destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Familiar with aircraft manufacturers technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret ADs, S/Bs, SRMs, industry NDT specifications and other work instructions.
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements of FAR 145 repair station.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License highly preferred.
  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school; or 4-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional NDT methods beyond the required disciplines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards in aviation.
