About the position

As an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic at Sun Country Airlines, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing airworthiness of our fleet. This position is not just about performing maintenance; it’s about being part of a dedicated team that values safety, efficiency, and teamwork. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing aircraft to meet Sun Country Airlines' high standards. This includes completing all necessary paperwork for maintenance performed, entering log items, Non-Routine Task Cards (NRTCs), and task cards into our maintenance tracking system, TRAX. You will also be expected to identify and report any issues that could impact daily maintenance operations, ensuring that all tasks are conducted in compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as internal policies. In addition to technical skills, effective communication is key in this role. You will need to maintain open lines of communication with the Maintenance Station Supervisor throughout all maintenance procedures. As part of your responsibilities, you will also assist in training newly hired individuals, helping to foster a culture of safety and excellence within the team. The work environment is dynamic, as you will be moving and parking aircraft as operations warrant, and positioning ground equipment as needed for maintenance operations. This position requires a commitment to safety and efficiency, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft to Sun Country Airlines standards.
  • Correctly complete paperwork for maintenance performed on aircraft.
  • Enter all log items, NRTCs, and task cards into TRAX.
  • Identify and report problems that could impact daily maintenance operations.
  • Communicate with Maintenance Station Supervisor during all maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date OJT file.
  • Assist with training of newly hired individuals, as necessary.
  • Accomplish housekeeping of maintenance facilities, as required.
  • Move and park aircraft as operations warrant.
  • Move and position ground equipment as needed for the maintenance operation.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A&P license required.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision under stressful situations.
  • Qualified candidates must pass a criminal history background check as well as a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years line maintenance preferred.
  • 2 years 737NG jet experience preferred.
  • 737NG Familiarization Class preferred.
  • 2 years experience in aircraft structural repair preferred.
  • Valid US Passport preferred.
