About the position
Amentum is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic I specialized in Corrosion (Paint and Final Finish) to support maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. The role involves performing repairs and maintenance on aircraft, particularly the EA-18G, ensuring they meet operational standards. The mechanic will troubleshoot malfunctions, repair structural components, and maintain various aircraft systems, contributing to the safety and functionality of the aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Make repairs to aircraft and follow direction of higher graded workers.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and functional components using various tools and equipment.
- Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine repair methods.
- Replace or repair worn or damaged components such as carburetors and alternators.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
- Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
- Service engines and airframe components at line station making necessary repairs.
- Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Three (3) years of job-related experience required.
- Three (3) years F/A-18 experience required.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions.
- Experience in Organizational Level Maintenance actions for EA-18G aircraft.
- Must possess experience necessary to inspect all assigned aircraft and certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries.
- Specialization in one or more areas such as Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems, Airframe/Structural, or Avionics.
Nice-to-haves
