Amentum is currently seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic I specialized in Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems, specifically with EA-18G experience, to support the U.S Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. The Aircraft Mechanic I will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the repair and maintenance of aircraft engines, structures, and systems. This role requires a combination of technical skills and experience to effectively troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions in aircraft systems, including but not limited to landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls. The mechanic will also be involved in the maintenance of auxiliary power units, ventilation, and heating systems, ensuring that all repairs meet the required safety and operational standards. The essential responsibilities of the Aircraft Mechanic I include making repairs to aircraft under the guidance of higher-graded workers, troubleshooting malfunctions, and performing repairs, replacements, and rebuilds of aircraft structures and components. This includes using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to carry out tasks such as rigging, surface control adjustments, and plumbing and hydraulic unit repairs. The mechanic will read and interpret maintenance manuals and technical data to determine the feasibility and methods for repairing or replacing malfunctioning components. Additionally, the role involves performing preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, as well as entering maintenance records to document the work performed. Candidates for this position must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with three years of job-related experience, particularly with F/A-18 aircraft. The ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions is essential, as is the capacity to perform complex Organizational Level Maintenance actions in support of the EA-18G aircraft. Selected candidates will be required to hold this job position for one year and must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials and security clearance. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the mechanic to adapt to various conditions, including shop environments, aircraft hangars, and outdoor settings, often exposed to extreme weather and operational hazards.
