Responsibilities

  • Review assignments for aircraft operations support and create plans for aircraft support including aircraft type, fuel plans, and staffing requirements.
  • Complete job walks, finalize job site readiness, develop and submit lift plans, and ensure applicable permits are filed and approved.
  • Coordinate multiple projects, evaluate project status, and institute changes as needed to maximize safety.
  • Consult and coordinate with aircraft operations management personnel to ensure safety and compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Make timely decisions based on forecast and/or unanticipated weather events and environmental occurrences.
  • Coordinate external-load equipment, rigging, and ground support requirements.
  • Update schedule for aircraft support in liaison with dispatchers and schedulers.
  • Support aircraft operations in the field including securing landing zones prior to the aircraft's arrival and performing standard and hot refueling.
  • Reposition fuel vehicles and support manned aircraft in the field or at regular base.
  • Ensure aircraft and landing zone compliance with established safety requirements.
  • Advise SCE and contract ground crews of work methods and safety procedures for material handling and take-offs and landings.
  • Guide pilot from ground through hand signals or other communication devices.
  • Install accessories and attachments for cargo handling, transportation of equipment, and external loads.
  • Operate hangar equipment for loading and unloading of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and inspect long lines, rigging equipment, and supplies.
  • Purchase and receive inventory supplies, maintain inventory records, and order supplies.
  • Assist and train employees; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A driver license with Hazmat, Air Brakes, and Tank Endorsements.
  • Two or more years of experience in helicopter external load operations.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 133.
  • Knowledge of Hand Signals and Radio Etiquette.

Nice-to-haves

  • Analyze problems and develop/implement helicopter support plans and tactics.
  • Plan and organize workloads.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Communicate ideas, concepts, and technical data both verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and Microsoft Windows software.
