About the position

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

Responsibilities

  • Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisor.
  • Performs personnel management responsibilities. Directly supervises expediters (WS-8852-9) and debrief/dispatch personnel (GS-1152-9). Incumbent participates with various supervisors in performing specific personnel management responsibilities for flight line maintenance production personnel.
  • Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Ensures employees with access to classified information comply with security directives.
  • Performs administrative functions. Assist other supervisors in planning and establishing overall leave schedule. Ensures leave schedule does not conflict with mission requirements.
  • Manages the aircraft maintenance production effort by assigning priorities of work necessary to accomplish flying schedules and maintenance plans.
  • Executes specific disaster control duties including provisions of Emergency War Orders and contingency plans.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • A security clearance may be required
  • Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
  • Employee must maintain current certifications
  • Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in safety standards, regulations, and technical orders.
  • Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs.
  • Ability to manage personnel and equipment resources to effect flying and maintenance programs.
  • Skill in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
