About the position

The Aircraft Painter position at Johnson Service Group Inc. involves preparing and painting aircraft surfaces while adhering to safety and quality standards. The role requires reading engineering drawings, applying various chemicals and paints, and ensuring the protection of aircraft components during the painting process. The ideal candidate will have experience in aircraft painting and the ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to General Work Requirements
  • Read engineering drawings to identify tasks for chemical and paint application
  • Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove paint
  • Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay
  • Mask, unmask, and remask areas of aircraft surface to protect windows and other sensitive areas
  • Remove stripper, excess paint, and contaminants using various methods
  • Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface
  • Apply putty to body dents and replace sealer in preparation for primer and paint application
  • Apply alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment
  • Assist with the application of primers and paint to aircraft surfaces
  • Check for imperfections after painting and perform touch-up work as required
  • Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
  • Perform tasks in support of production, flight test, and other areas as required
  • May perform Designated Inspector (DI) function as qualified by QA
  • Assist other employees in their duties within areas of qualification
  • Apply base coat of paint, stripes, decals, and vinyl appliques to aircraft surface

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in aircraft preparation and painting or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, customer instructions, and maintenance manuals
