About the position

The Aircraft Propulsion Aerodynamics and CFD Engineer at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is responsible for analyzing subsonic and transonic air vehicles, focusing on aerodynamics and aircraft performance prediction. This role involves creating aerodynamic databases using various methods, including CFD, and executing analyses related to aircraft performance, sizing, and tool development. The engineer will also interface with internal and external customers to present results and ensure project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop aerodynamic databases and perform aircraft performance analysis.
  • Plan, manage, and execute aerodynamic analyses using various tools, including Navier-Stokes CFD.
  • Develop and maintain in-house analysis tools and provide aerodynamic design support.
  • Support wind tunnel and flight tests, including data reduction and analysis.
  • Generate reports, specifications, and performance charts, and present findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Four or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree or two or more years with a master's degree.
  • Strong technical knowledge of external/internal aerodynamics at subsonic and transonic speeds.
  • Knowledge of ICE and/or turbo engine performance, sizing, and stability.
  • Familiarity with compressible flow equations and aerodynamic analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with aircraft flight testing and knowledge of flight dynamics.
  • Pilot's License.
