About the position

The Aircraft Servicer is responsible for servicing aircraft by performing various tasks related to the operation and maintenance of aircraft on the ground. This includes directing aircraft movements, operating service vehicles, and ensuring the aircraft is properly secured and maintained. The role requires effective communication and adherence to safety regulations while working in potentially challenging environments.

Responsibilities

  • Direct incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal or flight line parking area using hand or light signals.
  • Drive light truck with guiding sign to assist pilots in maneuvering aircraft on the ground.
  • Secure aircraft in parking position with wheel chocks and install landing gear and safing pins.
  • Operate service vehicles to replenish water and waste system chemicals at select locations.
  • Assist with refueling, defueling, and towing aircraft as a tow vehicle operator.
  • Operate ground support equipment such as electrical power carts, engine starting carts, air conditioning carts, nitrogen carts, oil and hydraulic carts for servicing aircraft.
  • Examine tires for specified air pressure and condition.
  • Position boarding platforms to unload or load aircraft passengers using a staircase truck.
  • De-ice aircraft wings and assemblies at select locations.
  • Extract engine oil samples when required and provide to NDI for analysis.
  • Coordinate via land mobile radio with air traffic control for follow me and towing of aircraft to designated parking spots.
  • Retrieve drag chutes and return to owning maintenance unit.
  • Coordinate with base supply in ordering parts for aircraft.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) License preferred.
  • DD214 with documentation reflecting aircraft maintenance experience preferred.
