ACET has openings for an Aircraft Sheetmetal/Structural Technician III in our Camp Pendleton, CA location. This position is for an Aircraft Mechanical and Structural Technician III, typically working at an advanced or senior sheet metal and mechanical technician level. The technician will be responsible for documenting removed components, including part and serial numbers in logbooks, and will need to read technical data, engineering drawings, and blueprints. The role involves witnessing and documenting torque data, as well as performing larger scale modifications on the aircraft. This includes cutting or modifying existing structures, installing antennas, locating structural webs and stringers, and cutting large holes in aircraft skins and frames. The technician will work directly with engineering teams on prototypes, validations, and verification installs, as well as with squadron maintenance control and government field support teams (FST). In addition to these responsibilities, the technician will guide Level II technicians on aircraft open up/close ups, which may involve the removal of cabin soundproofing, floorboards, air ducts, flight control rods, hydraulics, and fuel systems when required. Typical tools used in this role include drills, grinders, micrometers, calipers, sheet metal breaks and shears, hole saws, and dial indicators, with the technician acting as quality control oversight throughout the process.
