About the position

The Aircraft Support Mechanic (ASM) is a critical role within Delta's TechOps team, responsible for maintaining the safety and functionality of the airline's fleet. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), gaining hands-on experience and mentorship in aircraft maintenance and repair. ASMs play a vital role in ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with established laws, regulations, and safety protocols, contributing to an exceptional travel experience for customers. In this role, you will conduct inspections to identify any damage, defects, or wear that could impact safety or reliability. You will be responsible for recommending repairs or modifications based on your findings and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel. The position involves testing machinery and components for defects, installing or modifying aircraft structures and systems, and repairing worn or damaged parts using various tools and equipment. ASMs are expected to maintain detailed repair logs documenting all maintenance activities, interpret technical manuals and guidelines, and practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes. Responsibilities

  • Perform all work activities in accordance with established laws, regulations, standards, safety protocols, and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections to locate damage, defects, or wear that may affect safety, reliability, or customer experience.
  • Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment based on inspection findings.
  • Report issues, malfunctions, unusual wear, or damage to appropriate personnel as required.
  • Test machinery, mechanical equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
  • Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components following technical documentation.
  • Repair worn, defective, or damaged parts or components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
  • Interpret discrepancies or logs to understand the history and nature of issues and identify required next steps.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
  • Maintain repair logs, documenting all preventative and corrective aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Research manuals, flight logs, or other technical resources to gather information needed to complete work activities.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a background check including a government-required fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
  • Must pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing thereafter.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Demonstrate that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.

Nice-to-haves

  • An Airframe & Powerplant license is preferred, but not required.
