About the position

The AFSOC Mission Rehearsal Training Aircrew Controller at Planned Systems International is responsible for training aircrew members in various tasks and ensuring adherence to training standards. This role involves controlling aircraft operations, providing input for training documents, and supporting aircrew training by simulating enemy tactics. The position requires extensive knowledge of SOF aircrew procedures and the ability to adapt to new technologies and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Control aircraft range entry/exit and manage LZ/DZ operations.
  • Oversee and make recommendations to government officials on the safe execution of AFSOC aircraft.
  • Track and monitor suspense systems and review written correspondence for correct classification markings.
  • Support aircrew training and ground training by emulating friendly and opposing forces.
  • Direct personnel to mimic enemy Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
  • Adapt to new government-provided equipment reconfiguration and modernization.
  • Employ new techniques and technologies to keep procedures and capabilities aligned with mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum Secret security clearance.
  • Possess a valid civilian driver's license for the vehicle(s) to be operated.
  • Have working knowledge of military, federal, state, and local agency interfaces related to operations.
  • Complete AFSOC LZSO/DZSO training and be certified by letter signed by the Wing authority within 30 days of starting.
  • Safely lift and carry at least fifty (50) pounds.
  • Maintain all required qualifications for the duration of the performance period.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Proficient at role-playing a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and Ground Force Commander (GFC).
  • Qualified to simulate directing military aircraft for close air support and offensive air operations.
  • Conduct LZ/DZ usability assessments and scoring procedures in accordance with DAFMAN 13-217.
  • Conduct/report weather observations in accordance with FAA JO 7110.65.
  • Marshal aircraft in accordance with AFMAN 11-218.
  • Proficient with applicable enemy TTPs.
  • Possess fundamental land navigation/map, compass, and GPS skills.
  • Emulate communications from air assets used for special operations ground forces support.
  • Operate a wide range of specialized equipment, weapons, and vehicles.
  • Operate radios in secure mode with Communications Security (COMSEC).
  • Maintain an inventory of all government-provided equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of governmental regulations, manuals, and technical orders related to Command and Control.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with employees and Government counterparts.
  • Proficiency in personal computer and business software.
  • Analytical, organizational, and management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in performance of LZ duties as outlined in DAFMAN 13-217.
  • Previous experience in covert, clandestine, and contingency SOF mobility, ISR and/or Strike operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in military range operations, coordination, and safety requirements.
  • Previous SOCOM JTAC qualifications such as SOTACC/SOTACC-I.
