About the position

The Airfield Civil Engineer position at AtkinsRéalis involves working on various aviation engineering projects in Houston, TX. The role focuses on designing and developing engineering plans, conducting investigations, providing engineering services during construction, and ensuring quality control. The engineer will collaborate with other disciplines and contribute to specifications and permit applications, while also preparing cost estimates and performing field observations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plans and drawings, including preliminary layout and final drawings.
• Organize and conduct engineering investigations and planning work with a well-defined scope and write reports under periodic review.
• Provide engineering services during construction by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications and preparing progress reports.
• Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
• Contribute to the development of specifications and permit applications.
• Prepare preliminary cost estimates.
• Participate in quality control checks and maintain quality standards in all work produced.
• Coordinate with other disciplines as required.
• Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
• 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. (3 to 5 years' experience typical).
• Technical writing, computer, and communication skills required.
• CAD skills preferred.
• E.I.T is preferred.
