About the position

Silver Airways is hiring a Maintenance Controller, a critical role that can be based in either Hollywood or Orlando, FL. The Maintenance Controller is primarily responsible for determining the priority of actions and supporting those priorities in relation to the principal maintenance facility, line stations, and contract agencies regarding maintenance requirements. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that maintenance and operational requirements are met, facilitating the timely dispatch of airworthy aircraft. The Maintenance Controller will report directly to the maintenance control manager and will be involved in various day-to-day responsibilities that are essential for the smooth operation of the airline's fleet. In this role, the Maintenance Controller will ensure the greatest fleet utilization without compromising safety. This involves effective communication with flight crews and maintenance personnel to ascertain the nature of all in-service maintenance discrepancies. The Maintenance Controller is also responsible for notifying the Director of Quality Control and the VP of Technical Operations of any occurrences that deviate from the norm, acting on behalf of the maintenance planner in their absence. Additionally, the Maintenance Controller will initiate and coordinate actions necessary to address and resolve discrepancies of maintenance events at stations, ensuring that all maintenance is issued to outside maintenance vendors while maintaining control of the event. The Maintenance Controller will maintain a log of activities and irregularities with a daily maintenance control summary, ensuring that all entries are accurate and complete. They will also control and issue all deferrals, including MEL, MCO, CDL, or NEF, and coordinate all ferry and test flights. It is crucial that the shift turnover is executed accurately and timely to maintain operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the priority of actions related to maintenance requirements.
  • Communicate with flight crews and maintenance personnel regarding in-service maintenance discrepancies.
  • Notify the Director of Quality Control and VP of Tech Ops of any occurrences that deviate from the norm.
  • Act on behalf of the maintenance planner in their absence.
  • Initiate and coordinate actions necessary to address and resolve discrepancies of maintenance events at stations.
  • Issue maintenance to outside maintenance vendors and maintain control of the event.
  • Maintain a log of activities and irregularities with a daily maintenance control summary.
  • Control and issue all deferrals: MEL, MCO, CDL, or NEF.
  • Coordinate all ferry and test flights.
  • Ensure accurate and timely shift turnover.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in aircraft maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of ATR preferred.
  • Aviation experience in maintenance control capacity preferred.
  • Must possess an Airframe and Power Plant FAA Certificate.
  • Must be flexible to work any shift (24/7 operation), including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain clarity and composure in a high-stress and fast-paced environment.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work well with others and interact professionally with all levels of personnel.
  • Vocational (or similar) training in aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience with TRAX highly preferred.
  • Good understanding of how to use maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn new programs/applications easily.

  • Experience with TRAX highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ATR preferred.
