About the position
As an Airline Ramp Agent at Worldwide Flight Services, you will be an integral part of our ground handling operations at the Chicago Midway Airport (MDW). This role emphasizes safety and attention to detail, ensuring that all ramp service functions are executed efficiently and securely. Your responsibilities will include loading and unloading baggage and cargo, marshalling aircraft, and performing essential ground service functions. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, which means you will be required to join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues. In this fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for marshalling aircraft upon their arrival and departure, ensuring that all operations are conducted smoothly. You will also operate ground support equipment, such as belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts, to transport cargo and baggage between the terminal, warehouse, and aircraft. Sorting and loading baggage accurately is crucial, as is performing ground service functions like connecting and removing ground power units and water service. Additionally, you will be involved in aircraft pushback and wing walking, which are vital for the safe movement of aircraft on the ground. Maintaining a secure work environment is paramount, and you will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure.
- Load and unload cargo/baggage on and off aircraft.
- Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts to pick-up and deliver cargo/bags between the terminal, warehouse and aircraft.
- Sort and load baggage.
- Perform ground service functions, such as connecting/removing ground power and ground start units and water service.
- Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking and related guide man functions.
- Maintain a secure work environment.
Requirements
- HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
