About the position

Hillsboro Aero Academy is seeking part-time Airplane Flight Instructors to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about flying and looking to accumulate flight hours. The position offers the opportunity to work in the scenic Pacific Northwest, utilizing a diverse fleet of aircraft while contributing to the training of future professional pilots. The academy has a strong reputation in the industry, having trained pilots since 1980, and provides various incentives to enhance the instructor experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulation and in accordance with the approved training course outlines.
  • Ensure compliance with and promotion of the HAA Safety Management System and company SOPs.
  • Maintain satisfactory student progress through the course(s), ensuring course standards and training requirements are met and communicating delays to supervisor.
  • Accurately maintain all appropriate records associated with student training.
  • Attend weekly meetings and determine aircraft airworthiness.
  • Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training and instructor development meetings, as assigned.
  • Maintain and apply effective teaching and evaluation techniques.
  • Reconcile billable hours reports to complete bi-weekly payroll.
  • Communicate with potential students about flight training.
  • Assist with fueling aircraft and driving company vehicles as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate.
  • Must hold a valid FAA Certified Airplane Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and/or Multi-engine Instructor Rating.
  • Aircraft piloting skills, including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures using FAA Practical Test Standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional techniques in the classroom and in flight.
  • Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment and provide superior customer service.
  • Demonstrate and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physically and mentally demanding work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Dual instruction experience in Cessna aircraft and Piper Seminoles.
  • CFII/MEI preferred.
  • Multi-cultural experience.
