About the position

As an Airport Accountant III, you will handle complex accounting responsibilities with a focus on Capital Projects Accounting. This role involves managing project budgets, overseeing funding sources, reviewing change orders, reconciling accounts, and processing contractor payment applications. The position requires advanced accounting skills and the ability to apply professional judgment in accounting techniques and principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general to highly complex professional accountant work assignments.
  • Manage project budgets and oversee funding sources for capital projects.
  • Review change orders and reconcile accounts related to capital expenditures.
  • Process contractor payment applications and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare balance sheets, financial reports, and statements, including inventory, receipts, and disbursements.
  • Compute and distribute labor, material, and overhead costs.
  • Review, audit, and maintain journal entries and accounting ledgers.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare reports to support budget requests.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting.
  • Four to eight years of relevant work experience in accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge and competency in accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and operate a 10-key calculator.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a CPA may be preferred.
  • Experience in municipal accounting/auditing is a plus.
