About the position

The Airport Deputy Chief Officer - Commercial Development at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a senior-level management position responsible for overseeing commercial development initiatives and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. This role involves leading partnerships with various stakeholders, managing capital projects, and representing the airport's interests in negotiations and policy discussions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in airport operations, real estate leasing, and contract management, with a focus on enhancing the airport's commercial viability and strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary executive manager and negotiator between AUS and various stakeholders.
  • Lead partnership activities with stakeholders and ensure engagement with AUS divisions and business partners.
  • Work closely with the FAA to capture federal Airport Improvement Program funding and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) for regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the Airport Master Plan and ensure compliance with the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA).
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and manage the Airport's Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plan.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with Airport tenants, City departments, and the public.
  • Represent AUS interests in policy, aviation, and regulatory matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Aviation Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of senior-level experience at airports, airlines, or comparable organizations.
  • Six years of experience in a managerial or executive capacity.
  • Master's degree may substitute for two years of required experience.

  • Extensive experience in airport real estate leasing and development.
  • Experience in airport concession development and management.
  • Experience in Airport Airline Affairs management and contract negotiation.
  • Track record in closing complex retail, airline, or real estate transactions in an aviation environment.
