About the position

The Airport Electrical Engineer position at AtkinsRéalis involves providing expertise in aviation technical aspects related to airport design and construction. The role focuses on applying advanced engineering concepts to various airport-related projects, including runways, taxiways, and utility improvements. The engineer will work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings while upholding engineering ethics and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings for airport electrical engineering projects.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks.
  • Collect and analyze data using established procedures and perform routine calculations.
  • Research project site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.
  • Prepare materials for reports and permit applications, including gathering information and writing outlines.
  • Perform field observations of construction as appropriate.
  • Convey design intent clearly through engineering drawings and specifications.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or other engineering degrees.
  • 3-8 years of experience, with a focus on airfield experience preferred.
  • EIT certification strongly preferred; Professional Engineers are also eligible.
  • Experience with airside and landside aviation projects.
  • Strong understanding of FAA Advisory Circulars and airport design standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong technical writing abilities.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.

  • Experience in unconventional engineering problems related to airports.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
