The County of San Diego is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join the Department of Public Works team as an Airport Operations Coordinator. This position is primarily located at McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, but it also requires travel to the other seven County of San Diego Airports. The Airport Operations Coordinator will work under the direction of the Assistant Airport Manager and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising both airside and landside operations. This includes monitoring airport compliance with federal, state, and local laws, issuing NOTAMs for surface closures, mitigating wildlife hazards, and responding to emergencies while assisting with the coordination of emergency activities. In addition to operational oversight, the Airport Operations Coordinator will review and act on matters involving safety, security, customer service, and certification, ensuring that all operations positively impact airlines, tenants, and passengers. The role is critical in maintaining the safety and efficiency of airport operations and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication with various stakeholders. The anticipated hiring timeline includes interviews during the week of October 21, 2024, with job offers and background processes beginning shortly thereafter. The selected candidate will undergo a pre-employment medical screening approximately three days after successful background investigation results. The start date will be determined based on the completion of these processes or a mutually agreed-upon date.
