About the position

The Airport Operations Coordinator - Airside is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure airside operational environment at the Houston Airport System. This role involves conducting inspections, coordinating operational and security activities, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations to support tenant activities and promote aviation within the community. The coordinator plays a crucial role in emergency management and interacts with various stakeholders, including airlines and federal agencies, to ensure a safe and efficient airfield environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of airside operations to ensure compliance with federal regulations and safety standards.
  • Coordinate responses to aircraft emergencies, HAZMAT incidents, and medical emergencies according to the Airport Emergency Plan.
  • Maintain continuous surveillance and radio contact with the control tower to identify operational and safety concerns.
  • Conduct airfield tenant fuel inspections and enforce regulations regarding fueling training.
  • Monitor construction activities on and near the Airport Operation Area (AOA) to ensure safety compliance.
  • Conduct wildlife management activities in accordance with the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports and operations logs.
  • Participate in emergency exercises to test response resources.
  • Communicate with airlines and tenants to resolve airside operation issues and explain airport policies.
  • Investigate airspace violations and enforce airfield safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautics, Airway Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations or maintenance.
  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license and compliance with driving policies.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain security clearances.

Nice-to-haves

  • Considerable knowledge of airport airside operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in tense situations with various stakeholders.
  • Experience with MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of 150 Series ACs, 14 CFR Part 139, and NFPA regulations.
  • Experience in handling aircraft emergencies and wildlife mitigation.
