About the position

The Airport Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of airport operations under the direction of the Airport Operations Manager. This position is based in the 24/7/365 Airport Operations Center, where the Coordinator is responsible for centralized security and communications oversight. The primary duties include monitoring surveillance video, managing access control systems, responding to alarms, and overseeing mass notification systems. Additionally, the Coordinator will monitor weather-related equipment and maintain communication through phones and radios. In this role, the Airport Operations Coordinator will assist with terminal inspections and ensure compliance with TSA and FAA regulations. They will also be involved in aircraft gate assignments, manage irregular operations, and participate in tests and audits. The Coordinator acts as a “Trusted Agent,” responsible for viewing, recording, and processing background checks for airport badge holders. This position requires working holidays and rotating shifts, and it may involve mandatory overtime call-ins to ensure continuous airport operations. Candidates must possess a working knowledge of FAA and TSA rules and regulations, as well as proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Workspace. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential, along with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service to airport tenants, the general public, and various government agencies. The role also requires proficiency in airfield driving and FAA Part 139 inspection criteria, which must be demonstrated after a six-month probationary period. Candidates must pass all local and federal background investigations, including TSA regulations, and must possess a valid U.S. State Driver's License or the ability to obtain one upon employment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of FAA and TSA rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in airfield driving and FAA Part 139 inspection criteria after a six-month probationary period.
  • Ability to pass local and federal background investigations, specifically TSA Regulation 49 CFR, Part 1542.
  • Possession of a valid U.S. State Driver's License or ability to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Airport Management or comparable airport-related experience.
  • Experience at a commercial non-hub or larger airport in Airport Operations or Airport Security.
