About the position
The City of Battle Creek's Executive Airport is seeking a journeyman electrician to maintain and repair electrical equipment, assist with operations and maintenance tasks, and perform construction and upkeep duties for airport grounds and facilities. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and functionality of the airport's electrical systems and infrastructure, working under the supervision of the Airport Operations Manager. The position is currently temporary but may become permanent depending on future circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, operate, and repair the airfield lighting system, including runways, taxiways, and navigational aids.
- Inspect, maintain, operate, and repair electrical components, transformers, motors, panels, circuits, and high voltage light systems.
- Participate in snow removal and ice control activities, operating heavy equipment and small tools.
- Perform visual inspections and routine maintenance on airport runways, taxiways, and facilities.
- Troubleshoot, install, replace, or adjust electrical fixtures and systems.
- Make general repairs to plumbing, windows, drains, and other building systems.
- Complete and maintain work records, including maintenance logs and FAA records.
- Provide assistance during safety-related incidents or emergencies.
Requirements
- State of Michigan Electrician's Journeyman Electrician License.
- 3 years of electrical experience in high voltage installation and maintenance.
- 2 years of recent experience in an airport operations/maintenance environment.
- Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
