About the position

The ASMP Grant Manager plays a crucial role in connecting internal and external entities within the Alaska education system. This position requires extensive knowledge of the Alaskan educational landscape and a deep understanding of the unique needs of rural and urban communities. The Coordinator will manage educational grants, ensuring compliance and effective implementation while leading collaborative teams to meet project goals. The role also involves overseeing budgeting for grant line items, identifying staffing needs, and developing position descriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct organizational and mentor program planning.
  • Maximize efficiencies as outlined in grant awards.
  • Collaborate on program development plans, including grant writing.
  • Lead teams of educators and consultants to meet project deadlines.
  • Create communication strategies for diverse audiences, including administrators and students.
  • Oversee budgeting for grant line items and identify staffing needs.
  • Develop position descriptions and train new hires.
  • Participate in management discussions to ensure compliance and project progress.
  • Research and secure funding for outreach initiatives.
  • Work with the K-12 Outreach Advisory Board to establish educational goals.
  • Present at workshops and conferences to enhance outreach partnerships.

Requirements

  • 20+ years total working experience in the Alaska educational system.
  • 10+ years experience as a classroom teacher or administrator in rural Alaska.
  • 10+ years experience as a classroom teacher or administrator in urban Alaska.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive institutional knowledge of the Alaska education system.
  • Strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in rural Alaskan communities.
  • Familiarity with rural Alaskan cultures and languages.
