About the position

Kelly Education is seeking Substitute Teachers for Albuquerque Public Schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Substitute teachers play a crucial role in ensuring that students continue to learn and grow every day, stepping in to lead classrooms when regular teachers are unavailable. This position allows you to be a mentor and positively impact the education of students in your community. As a substitute teacher, you will assume the duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies. This includes leading instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans, instructing students on a variety of classroom topics, and building positive relationships with students. You will also be responsible for assigning reasonable tasks and homework, motivating students to learn, and creating a classroom environment conducive to learning. For long-term assignments, you may be required to develop lesson plans, as well as create, administer, and grade tests and assignments. The position requires a calming and compassionate nature, the ability to relate and adapt to various behaviors and learning styles, and comfort with technology such as Google and Zoom. Responsibilities

  • Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies.
  • Lead instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans.
  • Instruct students on a variety of classroom topics/courses.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework.
  • Motivate students to learn and encourage classroom participation.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Adapt to the various learning styles of students.
  • For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans, create, administer, and grade tests and assignments.

Requirements

  • 60 College credits
  • New Mexico Teaching License or New Mexico Substitute License (or willing to obtain)
  • Willing to work at least 3 days a week (ideally)
  • Calming, compassionate nature
  • Ability to relate and adapt to various behaviors, learning styles, and/or disabilities
  • Comfortable with Technology (Google, Zoom, etc.)
