About the position
The All In Tutor position at Cold Harbor Elementary School is designed to provide intensive tutoring to students, including those with special needs. The role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating student progress based on specific educational goals and the Virginia Standards of Learning. The tutor will work autonomously to assist small groups of children in various subject areas, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepares daily instruction and activities using the division's curriculum and/or assigned study materials to meet individual student needs.
- Assists small groups of children autonomously in various subject areas.
- Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and adjusts instruction to meet group and individual needs.
- Evaluates students' learning and uses results to inform further instruction.
- Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment conducive to effective learning.
- Maintains order and encourages students to uphold high standards of classroom behavior according to division guidelines.
- Selects and utilizes materials appropriate to students' instructional levels.
- Organizes learning activities to reinforce skills taught by the classroom teacher.
- Participates in district-level in-service training programs and faculty meetings as required.
- Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between home and school.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Child Development knowledge and experience.
- Classroom experience, preferably with special needs students.
- Paraprofessional Certification or Child Development Associate Certification.
- Excellent communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Associate's degree in Child Development preferred.
- Experience in professional education or a teacher's license.
