About the position

The All-Rounder / Kitchen Expo / Shift Leader at The Toasted Yolk Cafe in Mont Belvieu is a versatile role that combines culinary and customer service responsibilities. This position is essential for ensuring smooth operations during shifts, particularly when management is not present. The ideal candidate will have experience in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to manage a team effectively. Responsibilities

  • Create a positive work environment in line with the company's mission and values.
  • Prepare and assemble salads and cold dishes efficiently.
  • Act as the link between the kitchen and front-of-house staff for accurate order placement and timely delivery.
  • Plate dishes with care for appealing presentation.
  • Communicate orders clearly to the kitchen and relay special requests to the FOH team.
  • Collaborate with FOH and BOH staff to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Engage with guests and team members to build relationships.
  • Manage cash responsibly, including safe counts and cashier checkouts.
  • Execute all opening and closing duties thoroughly.
  • Direct, train, and motivate team members during shifts.
  • Comply with food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Report safety and sanitation violations to management.
  • Assist in catering orders and community outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • Prior experience as a line cook focusing on salads and hot/cold dishes.
  • Experience in an expo and FOH role in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Genuine interest in food and positive dining experiences.
  • Valid Food Handler and TABC certifications.
  • Basic math and accounting skills.
  • Ability to make decisions with common sense and creativity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation and proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • 21 years of age or older.
