About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is seeking dedicated engineers at all experience levels to join our team in various locations including Seattle, WA, Denver, CO, Arlington, VA, Herndon, VA, and Columbia, MD. This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage with cutting-edge cloud computing technologies and tackle some of the most complex technical challenges faced by U.S. Government agencies. As part of a specialized group focused on the U.S. Intelligence Community, you will be instrumental in building and operating some of the largest and most intricate distributed systems globally. We are looking for adaptable individuals who can implement and operate these systems effectively. In this position, you will be part of a fast-paced environment where innovation is key. You will have the chance to deep dive into customer issues, analyze metrics, and collaborate with top engineers at Amazon. Your role will involve designing and building operational scalability to support the rapid growth of our EC2 platform. You will also become a master at diagnosing, responding to, measuring, and automating platform operations. Your success will be measured by the tangible impact you have on the efficiency and effectiveness of government services. This position requires a current TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph, and you will be expected to maintain this clearance while opting into additional clearances as needed for various government agencies. Responsibilities

  • Implement innovative cloud computing solutions for U.S. Government agencies.
  • Engineer and operate large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep dive into customer issues to identify root causes and solutions.
  • Analyze metrics and trends to improve system performance.
  • Collaborate with top engineers to develop new approaches for operational issues.
  • Design and build operational scalability for the EC2 platform.
  • Automate routine operational tasks to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise on AWS EC2 products and services.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or relevant certifications (Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • 3+ years of networking experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with production computing environments support procedures.
  • Experience in automating routine tasks.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and performance/log analysis.
