About the position

The Amazon Dedicated Cloud Engineer II position is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about cloud computing and eager to tackle complex technical challenges. This role is integral to supporting U.S. Government agencies in implementing innovative cloud solutions and addressing technical issues. As part of a specialized group within AWS, the engineer will engage in building and operating some of the largest and most intricate distributed systems globally. The position requires a proactive approach to engineering and operations, ensuring the health and status of systems while providing critical support to the AWS CloudTrail team. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for managing and monitoring system health, provisioning devices, assisting with data ingestion, and troubleshooting various issues related to devices, networks, and configurations. The engineer will also document and communicate engineering recommendations, write after-action reports to capture key events and actions taken, and provide on-call support as necessary. This position emphasizes collaboration and adaptability, as the engineer will work closely with team members to ensure the successful operation of cloud services. Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor systems health and status
  • Provision devices, assist with data ingestion, and perform device cleaning
  • Troubleshoot device, network, and/or configuration related issues
  • Identify, document, and communicate engineering and operations recommendations to team members
  • Write and disseminate after action reports capturing key events, actions taken, and future mitigation plans
  • Provide on-call support when necessary

Requirements

  • Associate's degree, or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
  • 3+ years of experience operating in a Unix, Linux, or Red Hat environment
  • 3+ years of experience implementing automated software testing, scripting, deployment, and performance analysis systems
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and identifying the root cause of issues
  • 2+ years of experience with standard Internet protocols and networking fundamentals (Ethernet, ARP, TCP/IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, SSL, DNS, HTTP, etc.)
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years experience with cloud computing technologies
  • 5+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments
  • 5+ years experience troubleshooting
