As an Amazon Sortation Center Warehouse Associate, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team that serves as the first stop in the journey of packages from the warehouse to customers. This role is fast-paced and physical, taking place in a sortation center where you will be responsible for sorting, scanning, and stacking packages on pallets. Your efforts will directly contribute to preparing customer orders for delivery, ensuring that they reach their destinations efficiently and on time. The position offers flexibility, as most shifts are part-time, allowing you to choose the hours that best fit your schedule. You will have the opportunity to adjust your shifts in the future as needed, providing a level of control over your work-life balance. Your duties will include receiving and sorting inventory, preparing customer orders for delivery, and utilizing technology such as scanners, computers, and handheld printers to facilitate these tasks. In addition to the core responsibilities, you will need to meet certain physical requirements, including the ability to lift up to 49 pounds and perform various movements such as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching during your shifts. You may also be required to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other equipment to move items around the warehouse, and in some cases, work at heights of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine. Safety is a top priority at Amazon, and you will be provided with protective gear and safety tips to ensure a secure working environment. The work environment at an Amazon Sortation Center is dynamic, with moving machines and equipment such as order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts. You will experience varying temperatures within the warehouse, which can range from 60°F to 90°F, and on particularly hot days, temperatures may exceed 90°F in certain areas. The noise level can also be high, but hearing protection is available if needed. The dress code is relaxed, but safety regulations require comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and in some business units, protective safety footwear is mandatory. To help you prepare for your first day, Amazon provides a $110 Zappos gift code for shoe purchases.
