As an Amazon Sortation Center Warehouse Associate, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team that serves as the first stop in the journey of packages from the warehouse to customers. This role is fast-paced and physical, taking place in a sortation center where you will be responsible for sorting, scanning, and stacking packages on pallets. Your efforts will help ensure that customer orders are prepared for timely delivery. The position offers flexibility, as most shifts are part-time, allowing you to choose the hours that best fit your schedule and adjust them as needed in the future. Your duties will include receiving and sorting inventory, preparing customer orders for delivery, and utilizing technology such as scanners, computers, and handheld printers. You will also need to be physically capable of lifting up to 49 pounds and performing various movements such as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching throughout your shifts. Additionally, you may be required to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other equipment to move items around, navigate stairs, and work at heights of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine, depending on the specific requirements of your role. At an Amazon Sortation Center, safety is a top priority. You will be provided with protective gear and will participate in daily safety briefings with your team. The work environment includes moving machinery such as order pickers and forklifts, and you may be required to stand in one place for extended periods, walk around, or climb stairs. The temperature in the warehouse can vary, and it may be noisy at times, for which hearing protection is provided if necessary. The dress code is relaxed, but safety regulations must be followed, including wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes, with specific safety footwear required in certain areas. To help you prepare for your first day, Amazon offers a $110 Zappos gift code for shoe purchases.
