About the position

The Process Engineer Internship at Amazon Robotics is a 12-week program designed for students pursuing a degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. This role focuses on continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, emphasizing safety, delivery, quality, and cost. Interns will engage in various projects that involve data collection, process optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop innovative manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing process optimization projects involving data collection, cycle time studies, root-cause problem-solving initiatives, and creation of training modules.
  • Create business process models using best practice techniques, including current and future state solution design documents using requirements gathered.
  • Gather, analyze and document functional/technical requirements for new projects, enhancements to existing solutions, and production issues reported by end users.
  • Research production system issues, resolve user problems and escalate when necessary (Manufacturing Engineering Support).
  • Conduct periodic project updates and review sessions with cross-functional team members.
  • Support supplier improvement initiatives.
  • Document Manufacturing/Tech OPs-specific process and project activities that support our content and knowledge management initiatives.
  • Participate in Lean Initiatives including but not limited to 5S performance auditing, Kaizen Event sessions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related education.
  • Junior year or above in Engineering program.
  • Currently enrolled in College/University and must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op.
  • December 2025 graduation date or later.
  • Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h/week) internship from May/June- August 2025.
  • Knowledge of different process innovation methodologies and their practical application.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of metrics, process capabilities, LEAN and IE techniques.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD / 2D layouts.
  • Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity and dedication to getting results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and without direct reporting authority; must be a team player.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with both technical and business staff.
  • Excellent written, speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with creating process models.
