About the position

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Software Development Engineer Co-Op for Spring 2025, where you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about applying cutting-edge advances in robotics and software to solve real-world challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to see how your work impacts the bigger picture, as you will be involved in inventing new improvements every day. As a co-op, you will have the chance to work in our state-of-the-art facilities located in the Greater Boston Area, specifically in Westborough and North Reading, MA. These campuses provide direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities, allowing you to engage in hands-on experiences that will enhance your learning and professional development. In this role, you will be empowered to contribute to the automation of fulfillment center operations through various methods of robotic technology. This includes working with autonomous mobile robots, sophisticated control software, language perception, power management, computer vision, depth sensing, machine learning, object recognition, and semantic understanding of commands. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on research and development, continuously exploring new opportunities to extend our product lines into new areas. Your contributions will not only help improve our systems but also transform our customers' experiences, making this a rewarding and fulfilling opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and implement software solutions for robotic systems.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Test and debug software to ensure high-quality performance and reliability.
  • Engage in research and development activities to explore new technologies and methodologies in robotics.
  • Document software designs and processes for future reference and team use.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
  • Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  • Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
