About the position

The System Reliability Engineer Co-op at Amazon Robotics is a 6-month opportunity designed for students pursuing a degree in engineering. This role focuses on developing robotic solutions that optimize availability, lifecycle cost, and performance. Co-op students will work cross-functionally with global teams to contribute to the continuous innovation of Amazon's robotic systems, ensuring reliability and supportability in new product development.

Responsibilities

  • Support Design for Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability activities during new product development.
  • Develop reliability models for complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Support Failure Modes Effects Analyses for new products.
  • Assist in the development and execution of reliability test plans and data collection strategies.
  • Assess vendor reliability data.
  • Advocate for the customer during the design process on failure modes, fault diagnostics and impacts to product supportability.
  • Develop lifecycle support strategies and mechanisms for new products.
  • Ensure supportability requirements and concerns are addressed for field launch.
  • Work with customers to identify opportunities for improved maintenance strategies.
  • Assist with processes to expand diagnostic capabilities improve ergonomics, and reduce troubleshooting time.
  • Work with Learning team to develop and improve Amazon Robotics University technical manuals and training modules.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor's (or higher) in an engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging experience related to hardware, software, subsystems, and firmware.
  • Proficiency with Minitab, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
  • At least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op.
  • Eligible and available for a full-time (40h/week) 6-month co-op between January - June 2025.
  • Graduation is December 2025 or later.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with quality tools and concepts including 8D, SPC, MSA, Six Sigma, FMEA.
  • Previous undergraduate or graduate level course work in Quality/Reliability engineering and statistics.
  • Working understanding of bench top instruments including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, etc. and familiarity with schematics.
  • Proficiency with PTC Windchill Quality solutions, Reliasoft Synthesis platform tools, SQL, AutoCAD, Agile PLM, MS Project, Visio, Tableau.
