About the position

The Amazon Robotics Systems Engineer Co-op position is designed for students pursuing a BS degree in Engineering or a closely related STEM field. This role focuses on the deployment, troubleshooting, and commissioning of robotic systems within Amazon's fulfillment centers. The co-op will involve hands-on work in a field engineering capacity, requiring travel and collaboration with project managers to enhance business performance and sustainability through robotics technology.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment in fulfillment centers.
  • Develop process documentation and modify existing processes in collaboration with project and program managers.
  • Perform testing and monitoring of robotics system performance.
  • Troubleshoot robotics systems and assist in field-based operations.
  • Work primarily in construction or warehouse environments, requiring extensive travel across the US.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in college/university working towards a BS degree in Engineering or a closely related STEM field.
  • Experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
  • Understanding of data collection and reporting processes.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting robotics systems and monitoring performance.
  • Ability to read and develop technical documentation and process instructions.
  • Proficient in standard office software tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with creative problem solving and articulating technical challenges and solutions.
  • Exposure to AWS and other web technologies, schedulers, workflows, state machines, multi-threading, and networking protocols.
  • Interest in Robotics, including relevant coursework or club participation.
  • Experience with hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked equipment.
  • Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
  • Knowledge of robot-specific experience (Fanuc, ABB) and Allen Bradley PLC experience.
  • Programming skills in C++, Python, Java, etc.
