About the position
As an Amazon XL Warehouse Associate, you will be an integral part of our warehouse team, specifically handling large and heavy customer orders that exceed 50 pounds. This includes items such as big screen TVs, furniture, and appliances. You will receive comprehensive training on how to effectively use technology and equipment to manage these bulk items. Depending on the specific warehouse site, you may also have the opportunity to become a certified heavy equipment operator, utilizing powered industrial trucks (PIT) like forklifts and pallet drivers. Your role will often involve operating this equipment to prepare orders for shipment, as well as engaging in hands-on tasks on the warehouse floor, which may include sorting and handling items that require careful attention before they are dispatched to customers. In this position, you will be expected to perform various duties, including receiving, sorting, and storing heavy inventory, loading boxes into trucks for shipment, and utilizing technology such as computers and smartphones to follow prompts and complete tasks. Physical demands of the job include lifting up to 49 pounds, adhering to safe handling practices for heavier items, and engaging in frequent movements such as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching. You may also need to navigate stairs and use equipment like carts and hand trucks to transport items throughout the warehouse. Responsibilities
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) that reach heights up to 40 feet, with training and certification provided.
- Receive, sort, and put away heavy and bulky inventory.
- Load boxes into trucks for shipment.
- Use technology such as computers and smartphones to follow prompts and complete tasks.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and handle products heavier than 50 pounds safely.
- Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach frequently during shifts.
- Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around.
- Navigate stairs where applicable.
Requirements
- Candidates must be 18 years or older.
