Responsibilities

• Utilize ambulance billing expertise to review ambulance service records and accurately translate medical procedures, diagnoses, and supplies into billing codes.
• Prepare and submit insurance claims related to ambulance services to various payers, ensuring compliance with billing guidelines and regulations.
• Monitor the status of submitted claims, follow up on any denials or rejections specific to ambulance billing, and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Skillfully post payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other payers to patient accounts, applying knowledge of ambulance billing procedures.
• Address inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders regarding ambulance billing statements and insurance coverage.
• Maintain organized and accurate billing records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
• Utilize specialized knowledge in ambulance billing to reconcile billing records with financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Apply deep understanding of ambulance billing regulations to stay current with changes in medical billing codes, insurance regulations, and healthcare billing guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal education in medical billing and coding is a plus.
• Proven experience as an Ambulance Biller, Medical Biller, or in a similar role with specialized experience in ambulance billing within the healthcare industry.
• Proficiency in medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and billing software.
• Strong understanding of insurance claims processing and reimbursement procedures, specifically related to ambulance services.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in coding, data entry, and record keeping.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare billing regulations.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other team members.
• Problem-solving skills to address billing discrepancies and resolve issues.
