About the position
The Ambulatory Care Nurse at NYU Grossman School of Medicine plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient care, coordinating clinical practices, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. This position involves direct patient interaction, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare providers to develop patient-centered care plans. The nurse will work primarily during weekdays with some flexibility required for Sunday shifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
- Collect patient health history.
- Record information in electronic health record.
- Provide information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans as directed.
- Administer medications including vaccination, IV therapy, and oxygen administration.
- Provide comprehensive wound care and perform phone and in-person patient triage for clinical concerns.
- Assess and monitor patient responses to various treatments, procedures, and anesthesia.
- Consult with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans for patients.
- Direct, supervise, and delegate to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and technicians as needed to support patient flow and efficiency.
- Participate in site and organizational quality and performance improvement activities.
Requirements
- A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is highly preferred; a Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing requires a minimum of one year experience in conjunction with plans to earn a baccalaureate degree.
- Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York.
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
- Fluent written and spoken English language skills.
