About the position

The Ambulatory Clinic RN - Triage position at KU MedWest is a full-time role that requires a professional registered nurse to deliver nursing care using the nursing process. The RN will be responsible for assessing and interpreting patient data to identify each patient's needs, particularly in relation to their age-specific requirements. This role involves direct patient care within an ambulatory setting, where the RN will perform preliminary assessments through observation and chart reviews to ensure appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team. The RN will also evaluate complex patient care situations and facilitate necessary interventions, demonstrating independent nursing judgment and accountability for the care provided by themselves and delegated healthcare providers. In addition to direct patient care, the RN will be responsible for identifying the teaching and learning needs of patients and their families, providing educational instruction, and evaluating the effectiveness of this teaching. The RN will respond to incoming patient treatment-related phone calls, complete necessary forms such as FMLA and Home Health orders, and ensure that all documentation is accurately recorded in the patient's charts. The position requires the RN to perform professional, clinical, and technical competencies specific to the assigned unit or department, with the understanding that duties may vary based on departmental needs.
