About the position

The Ambulatory Oncology Services Nurse plays a critical role in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment in an outpatient setting. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care, education, and support throughout the treatment process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to oncology patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Administer chemotherapy and other medications as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients for side effects and complications during treatment.
  • Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology or a related field.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or similar certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
