About the position

The Ambulatory Pediatric Medical Assistant at the University of Virginia provides clinical and administrative support in an ambulatory setting, working under the supervision of healthcare professionals to promote patient health and wellness. Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
  • Assist with patient care, including taking vital signs and performing laboratory tests.
  • Complete standardized rooming and perform clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
  • Organize and prioritize daily work assignments to support patient needs and operational efficiency.
  • Reinforce patient/family teaching plans based on identified health education needs.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.
  • Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered during patient visits.
  • Perform administrative support responsibilities, including scheduling and assisting with forms.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in the delivery of patient care and recognize time-sensitive issues.
  • Assume responsibility for professional development according to departmental policy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
